Terry Wall Makes Accusations Without Proof Again
EDITORIAL OPINION
Oct. 13, 2024 - In a recent social media post, Terry Wall, the current Holmdel BOE president and candidate running for re-election, claimed he is under “attack” by all four BOE candidates who are running against him. He also blamed six named individuals (including this editor) and “others" – all without evidence.
This prompted a social media post by Holmdel Courant stating that: (1) the recent events by Wall were “disappointing and embarrassing”, (2) “Wall has held everyone [including the so-called Boogie Man] accountable except for himself”, (3) it raised “serious concerns” and (4) “many are tired of the continuous political theater and attacks on constituents” by Wall.
At the beginning of the school year, there were major logistical school bus issues with getting students to school on time as well as picking them up after classes ended. When the problems were not satisfactorily resolved, parents, understandably, continued to voice their concerns and ask questions.
Showing disdain rather than empathy and understanding for the situation, Terry Wall, as BOE President at a recent BOE meeting, made allusions to one Facebook group called “Holmdel Moms” with more than 1,000 members as “Fakebook” and “anti-social media”. Wall also decried the comments and posts as political because one of the admins of the group is the wife of one of the candidates. One Facebook commentator retorted as if a mom cannot think and speak independently of any candidate's campaign.
This is not the first time that Wall claimed to be the “victim” while making libelous statements and allegations without proof. In his 2021 BOE election bid, Wall posted on the Patch Neighbor attacking several well-known Holmdel residents including Ron Emma, a Republican candidate in the 2020 and 2021 Republican primary for Holmdel Township Committee. This compelled Emma to issue an open letter asking Wall for a retraction and a public apology.
In his open letter, Emma wrote that “Terry Wall, describing me, and some other well-known dedicated Holmdel residents as “angry election losers.” I cannot understand why my name is being dragged through the mud by a candidate who has a history of making libelous statements about fellow residents without any evidence whatsoever.”
Circulating among Holmdel residents is a website called saveholmdelstudents.org that has compiled a chronicle of Wall’s harassment, intimidation and bullying history over more than 20 years. All incidents appear to be in the public domain and reported by credible news media.
Among these incidents cited are two whistleblower lawsuits just in the last three years by former public employees against Wall in his capacity as the business administrator of the Township of Jackson.
One case, which alleged that Wall and other defendants engaged in a pattern of unlawful harassment, was settled earlier this year. The $850,000 settlement amount speaks volumes about the allegations in the lawsuit.
The second whistleblower lawsuit alleged that Wall repeatedly coerced Jackson Township’s building inspectors to “look away” from developments owned by big developers who are friends with Jackson’s Mayor and then harassed and threatened them when they would not comply with the demand including openly threatening to terminate their employment. This case is active.
The site points out that most people do not have even one incident of this kind of behavior during their lifetime but Wall appears to be a serial offender.
Voters are encouraged to read about these incidents before voting for Holmdel BOE.
Will Holmdel voters continue to condone Wall’s histrionics and history of harassment, intimidation and bullying and re-elect him to the school board?
Stay tuned. Election Day is now 23 days away.
